At the end of this past school year, each teacher had a chance to apply for a Next Generation Classroom. I almost didn't apply but after much thought and consideration I applied for the classroom, and to my amazement I was awarded the new Next Generation Classroom!! The biggest two things this meant for me was when students enter my room they will each have their own electronic device to type on, to create on, to work on and so many other tasks, and it means that I was able to attend the KDE Digital Classroom workshop.
I attended the conference this past week, and I am so excited to begin the school year!! Lots to do, lots to share with students and parents and lots to want to do. But I need to take a minute, step back and decide what is going to work in the classroom, for the students and for me. There is A LOT of technology available for the classroom but choosing the best can be difficult.
I am going to share everything I have learned, everything I am learning and everything I hope to learn. I will also share my ups and downs through this whole journey.
The first one thing I wanted to share is the Twitter hashtag #KyGoDigital. This is for Twitter, and you can search it on Twitter or any other hashtag finder. The one we used at the conference was Tagboard. I can see me using this in class as a backchannel for discussions, thoughts, ideas or many other things. I can also see more participation since it is done in quiet, and not in an intimidating manner.
Keep checking this blog because I plan on updating it a lot before school starts in three weeks. :) Thanks for stopping in!
